01
Local Knowledge
AI needs to understand different languages, cultures and ways of life to serve different people. Malaysia's diversity offers a rich source of local knowledge. Regional accents, mixed-language communication, everyday habits and variations in how people carry out tasks all deserve to be captured with care.
We want local talent to help shape new technology as well as learn to use it. Knowledge of everyday life can contribute to AI development, while project work helps them develop lasting skills and find their place in the global AI industry. Starting from Malaysia, we plan to expand into other regions as the business develops, gaining experience across locations and cultures.
02
Industry Expertise
Our team includes people with project experience in driver assistance and autonomous driving, smart home technology and embodied AI. This informs our approach to requirements, resource planning, quality assurance and delivery, with methods tested and refined for each task.
We value the development of local talent. Through practical examples, clear documentation, collaboration and mentoring, we aim to turn individual experience into working methods others can learn, use and improve. Our capabilities will grow with the team and its project work.
03
AI-Native Operations
We are building an AI-native organisation that combines AI tools, data and professional judgement from the outset. Whatever the role, people need to understand the business, define the goal, select suitable tools, verify results and take responsibility for decisions and delivery. We judge tools by the improvements they bring to quality and efficiency.
From research and spreadsheet analysis to project coordination, we encourage teams to test methods on sample tasks and in small trials before turning them into repeatable workflows. Data access and confidentiality requirements apply throughout. Sensitive information and significant decisions require appropriate human judgement, review and approval.
04
Growing Together
We want team members and partners to communicate openly, share methods and take responsibility for their work. That means explaining our reasoning, listening to different perspectives and raising problems early so we can solve them together. We test new ideas in practice and rethink our approach when the evidence changes. Attention to quality and detail, and sharing what worked and what did not, help everyone improve.
We plan to bring team members and partners together for tool demonstrations, project discussions, case reviews and exchanges across disciplines. Learning through shared projects can strengthen skills, improve collaboration and create opportunities for lasting partnerships and shared growth, shaped by each party's contribution and business needs.
05What's Merantara

The name Merantara combines Meranti and Antara. Meranti draws on the image of Malaysia's tropical trees: local roots, talent development and sustained growth. It reflects our aim to build professional expertise while staying connected to local communities.
Antara means “between” in Malay. For us, it represents connection: between local talent and international opportunities, cultural diversity and technology, and the real world and AI. It also expresses how we want to build the company—rooted locally, learning over time and growing with the wider world.
