Financial Management and Business Analysis

Full-time · All Career Stages · Professional Qualifications and Practical Ability

## Role Overview

Data projects involve spending on people, equipment, locations and tools. Rework and delivery also affect costs, receipts and payments. Your work will keep financial records clear and provide reliable figures and analysis for business decisions.

People starting out will work with guidance and review on document preparation, reconciliations, cost recording and basic analysis. Experienced professionals may take responsibility for month-end work, budgets, coordination on accounting and tax matters, and process improvements. Together, the team will develop financial practices suited to a technology company and project-based work.

## Eligibility

We welcome experienced professionals, graduates at any career stage and career changers with relevant knowledge or skills. There is no graduation-year limit. Appointments may be at officer, supervisory or trainee level, depending on skills and experience. Professional qualifications and practical ability are considered together.

## Key Responsibilities

- **Accounting and month-end reporting.** Handle assigned accounting entries and supporting documents, receivables, payables, expenses and bank reconciliations. Maintain financial records and monthly management reports with accurate figures and traceable supporting evidence.
- **Accounting and tax support.** Prepare information for financial reporting, tax, e-invoicing and record retention. Work with local accounting, tax and audit advisers to confirm applicable requirements.
- **Project cost analysis.** Record spending on people, equipment, locations, outsourced work and tools. Analyse how delivery quality and rework affect costs, supporting pricing and resource decisions.
- **Budgets and cash management.** Track receipts, payments, cash requirements and budget variances. Reconcile payroll and settlement information with HR and project colleagues, and flag exceptions promptly.
- **Financial systems and processes.** Connect purchasing, contracts, acceptance records, invoicing, payments and document retention. Maintain equipment and software subscription records, and improve data preparation and reconciliation methods.

## Core Requirements

- Relevant accounting or finance knowledge, including bookkeeping, financial statements, cost accounting and the basics of budgeting and internal controls. Attention to source documents and data accuracy.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax practices in Malaysia, with the ability to check applicable requirements under professional guidance and identify matters needing further confirmation.
- Ability to organise financial data, check formulas, reconcile figures and investigate differences in Excel or similar tools. Practical experience using AI for learning or work, with the ability to explain how you verified the results. Applicants starting out may draw on coursework, simulated accounts or internships.
- Integrity, discretion and professional judgement, with the ability to explain figures and issues to colleagues outside finance.
- Ability to read financial materials in English and communicate in languages appropriate to local work and dealings with external organisations.

## Relevant Experience

Roles with independent responsibility require practical experience in accounting, month-end work or accounting and tax coordination in Malaysia. You should be able to use relevant financial systems, explain the basis of your work, identify risks and move tasks forward. Depending on the responsibilities assigned, you should also be able to manage relevant budgeting, project cost analysis and internal control work, using spreadsheet summaries, pivot analysis or basic models to support decisions.

## Qualifications and Experience

Relevant professional qualifications are preferred. These include membership of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) with the C.A.(M) designation, Certified Public Accountant membership of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), ACCA membership, or other relevant professional qualifications.

Applicants studying towards an accountancy qualification, those who have passed some examinations, and those who have completed the examinations but have not yet obtained full membership or the relevant qualification are also welcome to apply at a level suited to their abilities. State your professional body, membership or qualification status, and progress in study, examinations and practical experience where applicable.

Experience in technology companies, project-based services, cross-border payments, financial systems implementation, advanced financial modelling, Power Query, business intelligence (BI) or automation is an advantage. Qualifications will be assessed alongside practical ability.

## Using AI in Finance

- Use AI to help organise documents, clean data and identify duplicates or missing information, then check the results against the source records.
- Use AI to help write formulas and analyse costs or budget variances. Recalculate using spreadsheets, financial systems or an independent method before preparing explanations and recommendations.

Handle sensitive information in line with tool permissions and confidentiality requirements. Accounting records, payments and filings remain subject to appropriate authorisation and human review. Work requiring a professional qualification or statutory authority must be handled by appropriately qualified and authorised people or organisations. Trainees carry out their assigned work under guidance.

## Application Details

Include relevant education, work or practical experience; your professional body and membership or qualification status; and progress in study, examinations and practical experience where applicable. List the financial software and tools you have used. Applicants seeking independent responsibility should describe the work they have managed and its results.

You may share an accounting or analysis example explaining the problem, your approach and how you checked the calculations. Coursework, internships, simulated accounts or appropriately anonymised material you are authorised to share are suitable. This is optional; no specially prepared work sample is required.

Email subject
**Finance + Your name**

Send your CV to [hr@merantara.com](mailto:hr@merantara.com?subject=Finance%20%2B%20Your%20name) with “Role title + Your name” as the subject line.

Include relevant education, work or practical experience, your current location, earliest available start date, and the languages, professional software and AI tools you use. Also provide the information requested under “Application Details” for your chosen role.

The required experience with AI tools may come from study, coursework, personal projects or employment. What matters is how you used the tools and verified the results. Supporting examples are optional: you do not need to create or submit a separate AI work sample, and applying without one will not disadvantage your application.

If you choose to share an example, briefly explain the problem, your approach, how you checked the outcome and what improved. Coursework, internships and simulated tasks are all suitable.

We normally complete the initial screening and respond to applicants within ten working days of receiving an application.

Current students may use the same email address to enquire about internships. Internship opportunities are considered separately from full-time recruitment.

Only share material you are authorised to disclose. Do not include confidential information belonging to former employers, clients or other people. Use simulated or appropriately anonymised material where needed.
